The Nickel Club 5
Galway has a swinging new band in town, The Nickel Club 5, who are set to perform their debut gig this Friday, May 9, in the Warwick Hotel Salthill.
For the first time, the musical styling of Keara Rose Sheeran, Tony Higgins, Peter Joyce, Aengus Hackett and John O'Dwyer, have come together to re-create the booming sounds of an era when "The Rat Pack" roamed.
They will set the stage alight with their unique swing and jazz fusion, combining up tempo numbers with softer easy listening tunes, capturing the greats such as Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra and Glen Miller.
These talented musicians have already impressed audiences across the city with their rousing drum beats, sax solos, rhythmic double bass and strong vocal melodies.
Now they have come together as a group to bring you the best in music from the 1920s, 30s, 40s and 50s. With Tony Higgins on drums, Peter Joyce on sax, Aengus Hackett on guitar and John O'Dwyer on double bass, The Nickel Club 5 have a strong instrumental core, uniting contemporary jazz with a modern twist.
Combined with the amazing vocal ability of lead singer, Keara Rose Sheeran, The Nickel Club 5 bring you a new sound, uniting an era of generations gone by with the modern age.
Local dance club Galway Swing is proud to introduce The Nickel Club 5 as part of its ongoing commitment to providing the best in entertainment and culture from the 20s to the 50s.
If you love swing, jazz and jive, or you simply need a break from the norm, then you will thoroughly enjoy this exciting new band, created especially by Galway Swing for The Nickel Club.
The Nickel Club is Galway Swing's very own nightclub - bringing you top class entertainment from a golden age of music.
The Nickel Club is unique as, not only will you be able to enjoy nerve-tingling live music and guest appearances, a swing DJ dedicated to the best of tunes from the 20s to the 50s, but it is located in the comfortable surroundings of The Warwick Hotel in Salthill.
The Warwick provides the perfect backdrop to this great night out, with a large dance floor for spirited lindy-hoppers and comfortable cubby holes for those who want to sit back and enjoy the greats.
With a full bar, a huge dance floor and seats for tired feet, it is the perfect venue to meet new people and to join the Galway Swing Dance scene.
Galway Swing set up this dedicated jazz, jive and swing nightclub to bring the very best in music from the 1920s to the 50s back to Galway's social scene.
